Hugh Parsons returned from WW1 service
When Hugh Parsons returned from WW1 service and opened his High Street shop in the 1920's, across the road lived spinster Agnes Emily Drew (1849-1932) who ran a stationers. She was the youngest of 12 children of saddler, John Drew (1794-1858) and Hannah Jeans (1803-1858).
Records reveal that the Drew family had lived there since 1826, but a booklet available from the Stalbridge Archive Society written by Charles Meader reveals a little more about her 2 siblings, Edwin Drew (1842-1922) & Charles Drew (1847-1912).
Detailed newspaper accounts and online records confirm what is written below is correct. All were laid to rest in Stalbridge and it would be great if someone could venture into the churchyard to see if their gravestones are there.

Following an earlier post which included Hugh Claude Parsons (1889-1966) I'm keen to find out more about this entreprenurial gent. Aged just 21, the 1911 census tells us he was a Newsagent and Tobacconist. The photo below shows this. Percy Dike in his recollections "Stalbridge Peeps" reveals that his WW1 service took him to Russia and I'm currently pursuing this line through a Hampshire Regiment researcher. Are you related to Hugh? Can you help?
